This blog is focused on the history of science. The research I write about is based on original historical texts or their translations. I am convinced that studying historical debates allows us to better understand current scientific problems. I am particularly interested in the rôle of electricity and plasma in the functioning of the Universe.
About John Plaice
In a former life, I was a computer scientist and software engineer. I hold a BMath degree from the University of Waterloo in Canada, and two doctorates in computer science, a PhD and a Habilitation degree, both from the University of Grenoble in France. I have taught in Canadian and Australian universities, and worked in private industry as a professional software engineer. I am fascinated by the design and development of new programming languages.
