Hans, are you familiar with EPOLA theory (Electron-POsitron LAtice)? Came across it as an undergrad when Dr. Simhony sold me a pamphlet ($2.00 to cover his publishing costs) at a Physics conference. This was back in the mid-eighties, and though fascinating, I don't think much has been done with it. Still, it's a great source of ideas for conceiving of space, energy fields, and action at a distance.

It's somewhat like that, but a crystaline structure like NaCl composed of electrons and positrons. EM radiation is described as transverse waves within the lattice. Gravity is caused by distortions of the lattice. It takes a Materials Scientist to come up with something like this, lol.
